Boomers fall to Schroder’s Germany in close encounter
The Australian Boomers have lost to Dennis Schroder and Germany 82-85 as they now fall to a 1-1 record.
Schroder, the new Toronto Raptors point guard, had 30 points for the Germans to get with eight assists and four steals as he led the black, red and gold to a tournament-defining victory.
For the Australians, Patty Mills was among the best. He scored an insane 13 points straight in the first quarter to ignite the Boomers after yet another slow start.
He finished the game with 21 points, five rebounds and six assists.
OKC Thunder star Josh Giddey also put up numbers for the Australians, while not having a usual stat-stuffing performance. He had 17 points with one rebound and three assists.
They now play host Japan in their final first-stage match-up to see who goes through to play Luka Doncic’s Slovenia and Georgia.
